Swearing in Icelandic is the topic of this article. The main focus on grammatical aspects swear words, i.e. their morphological and syntactic characteristics behaviour, emphasizing how one swears rather than why. Tagged Corpus (MÍM), containing searchable texts from early 21st century, primary source for analysis. Even if vocabulary words relatively small swearing a formulaic use language, results show that there can be considerable flexibility are creative means to modify extend both constructions typical swearing. extensions partly based word-formation (in some cases with unusual methods) by borrowing, especially English nowadays. In syntax, certain forms nouns used have acquired new functions, e.g. using them adverbially, nominal phrases extended adding attributes preceeding head-noun, diversity effect. such phrases, genitive ‒ usually head counter other — been reinterpreted as adjectives allowing freely coordinated string without conjoining conjunctions.
